London, England) – Former German tennis player Boris Becker has had his bankruptcy suspended by a London court following an agreement with his debtors, his lawyer said on Thursday.

“As a result of an agreement with his insolvency practitioners, Boris Becker’s bankruptcy, which began in 2017, was legally terminated yesterday by decision of the High Court in London,” Becker’s Berlin-based lawyer said in a statement to press. “Becker is exempt from any further liability arising from the insolvency debts.” Details of the agreement are confidential.

The three-time Wimbledon winner was sentenced to two and a half years in prison in April 2022 for hiding around $3.1 million in assets and loans to avoid paying debts.

Becker, 56, was released in December of the same year under a UK regulation for foreign prisoners and was later deported to Germany. He had been declared bankrupt in June 2017.

Becker finished his career with six Grand Slam titles, having also been two-time Australian Open champion and US Open champion.
