Fun Boys Second Summer Of Love is a 16-minute short film that follows Dave Rastovich, Creed McTaggart and Wade Goodall surfing the waves of Australia’s east coast during the Covid-19 lockdowns in 2020/2021, luckily coinciding with one of the best surfing periods in recent history.
“Let this take you back to simpler times,” says the description. “A time when surfing was booming almost non-stop for about six months, when Creed was experimenting with comically large Dahlberg boards and making them look strangely functional.”
Reaching the end is essential. Watching the full clip is rewarding, but the last part makes the film unmissable.
The scene takes place on a day when Covid lockdowns and restrictions have forced Creed, Rasta and Wade to wait for a swell at home (instead of chasing it elsewhere).
The reward? Perfect, empty waves on a peak that rarely looks this good. It’s 5 minutes of pure style and fluidity, as the first comment on the post clearly defined: “Last 5 minutes on repeat. Poetry.”
