Audi, which currently races as Sauber (Stake F1 Team), has already shown great interest in signing Carlos Sainz, but the Spanish driver has not yet made a final decision on where he will race in 2025. The place in the team, which will be fully taken over by Sauber in Formula 1 in 2026, is the one most desired by Sainz, and Audi is willing to offer a lucrative contract to have him as its main driver.

According to RacingNews365, Audi has already offered Sainz several proposals, which include short and long-term financial stability, in addition to the status of lifetime brand ambassador. The good relationship with Sainz’s father, Carlos Sainz Sr., Rally legend and winner of the last Dakar Rally, is also a positive factor for Audi.

Despite the interest, Audi does not want to put too much pressure on the driver. The German team knows that the current Sauber still needs a lot of work to fight among the top teams, unlike Red Bull, which could offer Sainz a chance to fight for the title as early as 2025.

However, Sainz’s decision may depend, indirectly, on Max Verstappen. If the Dutchman decides to leave Red Bull in 2026 due to the performance of the Red Bull Powertrains engine, the place in the Austrian team could be an attractive option for Sainz to fight for the championship.

Audi understands Sainz’s caution and is willing to wait for his decision. Meanwhile, the team continues to monitor the driver market, but Sainz remains the priority.
