Monastir (Tunisia) – Top seeds in the competition, Paulo Saraiva from Brasilia and Italian-Brazilian Elio Lago confirmed their status as favorites and won the ITF M15 doubles title in Monastir, on Tunisian clay. This Saturday, they defeated North American guests Zachary Fuchs and Wally Thayne by the score of 6/4 and 7/6 (7-5) in 1h35 of play.

At 23 years old, Saraiva wins the fourth doubles title of her professional career, the third this season alone. Previously, he had won the M25 in Punta del Este and Maceió, with Uruguayan Franco Roncadelli and São Paulo’s Luis Britto, respectively. In 2023, he triumphed in the M15 of Tucumán alongside Fernando Yamacita from Paraná.

Currently with his best doubles ranking, at 296th place, the Brasilia native will only have added 15 title points in Monastir in two weeks, and will therefore suffer a drop of 11 positions in the update of the ATP list next Monday .

Lago, in turn, is 26 years old, and currently ranks 684th among doubles players, but was once 508th in the world. Unlike Saraiva, he will move up six places this week, even without gaining any points. Defending the Italian flag since 2022, the player was born in Fortaleza and has played on the North American university circuit. Since 2022, he has played for Italy in professional competitions. He has four titles on the circuit, all won last season at M15 level, two of them with São Paulo native Igor Gimenez.
