Abrafut releases a note, says it is the only referees association recognized by the CBF and invites the athletes’ union to make a joint statement on the CPI

A Abrafut (Association of Football Referees of Brazil) issued an official statement on Tuesday night (23/4) stating that it is the only association of referees recognized by CBFafter ANAF (National Association of Football Referees), earlier, criticized the entity and called for the suspension of the Brazilian championship.

In the text, Abrafut also invites the athletes’ union (Fenapaf) to make a joint statement on the allegations that were made and commented on in the CPI on the Manipulation of Games and Sports Betting in the Senate last Monday, when John Textor, owner of SAF do Botafogo, gave a statement.

This Tuesday, the president of the CPI, Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO), said he agreed with the request to stop the Brazilian Championship made by ANAF and spoke of “the biggest scandal in the history of football” in the country.

ABRAFUT (Association of Brazilian Football Referees) is making a public statement, informing once again that it is the only Brazilian association of referees officially recognized by the CBF. Therefore, only ABRAFUT can represent its 492 members with property and autonomy and speak out on their behalf, who are the arbiters of the national framework.

We took advantage of the moment to extend an invitation to the Athletes’ Union, since the players were also mentioned in the Federal Senate’s CPI, so that together we can make a statement regarding the content of the complaints.
