King Charles III will send a “humble” gift to his grandson Archie, after hearing complaints from Prince Harry about “excessive” pampering for the child. Harry’s firstborn with actress and Duchess Meghan Markle turned five today (May 6). The British newspaper Daily Mirror reports that the monarch will give his grandson’s gift to his son during the prince’s visit to the United Kingdom scheduled for the next few days.

An expert on the British monarchy and with several sources on royalty, analyst Tom Quinn told the Mirror his findings about Charles III’s gift to his grandson living in the United States.

Quinn said: “There is talk that he [Charles III] will send one of the watercolors he painted to Archie as a gift, as Meghan loves handmade gifts and does not like extravagant and expensive gifts.”

“King Charles III and his team are extremely concerned that any gift could be misinterpreted by Harry and Meghan,” Quinn reported. “Charles gave Prince George [primogênito do Príncipe William com a Princesa Kate Middleton] a swing with George’s name engraved on the seat, but Harry has told him more than once that this kind of gift for Archie would be overkill.”

The expert also said that it is possible that Charles III will contact his son to make a video call with his grandson: “King Charles III doesn’t like new technologies, but he is desperate to keep in touch with his grandchildren on the other side of the Atlantic, so he will definitely call Harry and wish Archie a happy birthday.”

Harry and Markle resigned from their roles as British royals in January 2020. They currently live in the United States, in the Californian city of Montecito. In addition to Archie, they are also parents to Lilibet (2 years old). The prince is scheduled to travel to England to participate in a mass celebrating the 10th anniversary of the first edition of the Invictus Games – a multi-sport competition created by him and aimed at army veterans.
