Journalist Paulo Vinícius Coelho revealed this Tuesday (2/4), on the program “De Primeira”, on “UOL Esporte”, that there is a political current that believes that John Textor would be using the narrative that there is result manipulation in Brazilian football to justify a possible sale of SAF of Botafogo. The North American businessman has been attacked by the press, STJD and clubs in recent days.
– In the market there are people betting that Textor will do all this and then say that he needs to leave Brazil, that he will sell Botafogo, because he is not welcome here… But he is imploding the industry. How does a businessman implode and create suspicion about the very industry in which he participates? It’s very easy to do this differently! Just take the evidence that he said he would present in 30 days, and will complete 30 days on the 8th, and take it to the Goiás MP, who has been investigating for two years – he said PVC.
At another point in the program, PVC said that this information came from John Textor’s “political opponents”:
– What many people think could be happening, we start to speculate what will happen with Textor’s investment. That he works under leverage, that is clear, at Botafogo, at Lyon, there is talk that he could enter the Portuguese market through Porto… There is speculation among Textor’s political opponents that he could raise all this to say that he will sell the Botafogo and leaving Brazil, we will have to see that in the medium and long term.
Paulo Vinícius Coelho criticized the majority shareholder of SAF do Botafogo, saying that he “creates foam” to justify mistakes.
– What he has to gain for now is to make a splash and take the focus off having hired three coaches and not being able to win any title, not being able to be an authority in football because he can’t make Botafogo qualify for the State finals … Botafogo did not win any of the last 11 matches and lost the championship in which they had a 14-point lead. He’s making a fuss and losing focus – said PVC, ending with an irony about the accusation in relation to São Paulo:
– None of his players are suspects, and São Paulo’s are? Botafogo concedes three goals in eight minutes, plus stoppage time, and the suspects are the São Paulo players who conceded five goals in 90 minutes?
