Coach Eduardo Coudet admitted that Inter committed a 0-0 draw with Belgrano on Tuesday night. However, he warned by saying that it was a debut in the South American Championship and the team was still feeling the pain of being eliminated in Gauchão. He also made clear his discomfort with the criticism by remembering that the team only lost one match this year.

Coudet understands that Inter had control of the match in the initial stages, but had difficulties with the style imposed by the opponent after the break. Still, he created opportunities to win, but Rafael Borré didn’t convert.

– These are more fighting games and we didn’t get the situations we had right. Some very clear. We had a great first half, but we suffered more in the second with the long ball and the rebound. It got more fighting. We felt like we didn’t get the ball as much. They have a center forward with a characteristic that makes things complicated. The second ball was always theirs.

Chacho said that the wound from falling to Juventude in the semi-finals of Gauchão is still open, but that the performance, overall, is positive. Uncomfortable, he said he was not asked about tactical questions during the winning streak.

To defend himself, he brought the numbers. He admitted that he did not know the exact number of matches played (17), but he held on to the fact that he only lost one, the 2-1 defeat to Guarany de Bagé, when he used the reserves, despite being eliminated on penalties.

If you create, but don’t convert, pass by. We have to correct it. I don’t know how many games we played in the year. There are about 20, more or less, and we lost one. Is it so bad?

—Eduardo Coudet

– Of course we want to win and we recognize when we don’t do well, but we only lost one. The hit is very close. We didn’t make it to the final and we apologize. It was the first game after elimination. It’s not easy. We will have a long week and we need to win again. We can give much more. We have to go back to a lot of things.

Coudet will have another week to find solutions. The next game is scheduled for April 10th, when Inter hosts Real Tomayapo in Beira-Rio.
