Palmeiras and Puma began their relationship in 2019 and, since then, the brand has been responsible for creating and distributing Alviverde Imponente’s uniforms. Many fans liked it, others criticized it. But the fact is that the current contract ends in December 2024 and the club has already made its decision.
According to Gustavo Soler, from Bandeirantes, Adidas, which was negotiating with Palmeiras and was excited to close the R$50 million deal, decided to give up and continue renewal negotiations with Flamengo. Faced with frustration, Verdão resumed conversations with Puma and moved forward.
Also according to the Bandeirantes report, Puma will pay Palmeiras R$60 million per year, with 30% royalties from the brand. The bond will be signed soon and will be valid until the end of 2027.
Important matter
Internally, choosing a supplier was an important issue for the Palmeiras board of directors. O PALMEIRAS ONLINE found that Leila Pereira, president of the club, wanted to resolve everything in the first half of 2024, to have time to discuss new uniforms and actions.
In November, Palmeiras will go through presidential elections and Leila will seek re-election. This is another point that occupies the businesswoman’s mind.
