Withdrawal takes place after repercussions regarding a possible electoral crime committed by the head of the Executive
The video of the transmission of the unified act of the union centers, held this Wednesday (May 1, 2024) in São Paulo, was removed from the profile CanalGov on Youtube. The content, which had been broadcast live on the Presidency’s official channel on the platform, was no longer accessible to the public.
The federal government maintained the publication in which it discloses the https://twitter.com/canalgov/status/1785709680632775018 broadcast on X (formerly Twitter). In the address, however, the video appears as “unavailable”.
The removal took place after the repercussion of the request for a vote to the pre-candidate for Mayor of São Paulo, Guilherme Boulos (PSOL-SP), made by President Lula during an event. Generally, live broadcasts made by the government remain in the video catalog of official networks.
In his speech, the chief executive praised Boulos and asked his voters to vote for the pre-candidate. At the time, the agent also said that he would be competing for a “real war” in Sao Paulo. Main Boulos’ opponent in the dispute for the capital of São Paulo is Ricardo Nunes (MDB), current mayor.
“Nobody will defeat this guy here if you vote for Boulos for mayor of São Paulo in the next elections. I’m going to make an appeal: every person who voted for Lula in 1989, in 1994, in 1996, in 2006, in 2010, in 2022, has to vote for Boulos for mayor of São Paulo”.
Lula’s attitude can be considered an electoral crime because it was carried out during an event that involved public money. O Power360 found that the state-owned spent approximately R$3 million when sponsoring the event. It can constitute an electoral crime because it is equivalent to receiving support from a legal entity, which is prohibited by law.
