Gabigol was suspended from football for attempted fraud in an anti-doping test and the attacker’s conviction took Flamengo by surprise. Now, this Tuesday (02), the player’s defense files an appeal and, at the same time, asks for a suspensive effect.

According to the newspaper O Globo, lawyer Bichara Neto, who defends Gabigol, will file an appeal to try to reverse the two-year suspension sentence. The punishment was applied by the Anti-Doping Sports Court (TJD-AD).

First of all, it is worth mentioning that the defense will also file a request for a suspensive effect. The idea is that Gabigol will be immediately available to Flamengo again. At the same time, Bichara Neto will also file an appeal to annul the punishment, considered exaggerated.

In short, the expectation is that the response to the request for a suspensive effect to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), in Switzerland, will come out within two weeks. In this way, Gabigol misses Flamengo in the debut of the Copa Libertadores da América and in the final of the Campeonato Carioca.

ABOUT THAT…

While he doesn’t have the answers to the suspensive effect and the appeal, Gabigol continues training at home. The number 10 is being accompanied by one of Flamengo’s physiotherapists. The idea is for the player to maintain physical shape to be available as soon as possible.

In short, even without Gabigol, Flamengo continues with the 2024 season. This Tuesday (02), Rubro-Negro faces Millonarios (COL), in the first round of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores da América. The game takes place from 7pm (Brasília time), at the Nemesio Camacho Stadium, known as El Campín, in Bogotá, Colombia.

As usual, Coluna do Fla commands the hottest and reddest narration on the internet, in the voice of Rafa Penido, via YouTube. In addition, ESPN, on closed TV, and Star+, via streaming, also show Flamengo’s debut in the Libertadores.
