Coritiba opens week of expectation for reinforcements

-

Coritiba starts another week of training aiming for Series B of the Brazilian Championship, but the biggest expectations are behind the scenes. This Monday (1), a “special” transfer window, a loophole in the football market opened by CBF regulations. Until the 19th, the start date of the Second Season, clubs will be able to sign athletes, as long as they meet some specific criteria. And, with major needs in the squad, Coxa needs to reinforce itself.

Strictly speaking, the first transfer window in Brazilian football ended on March 7th. But whoever will compete in series A and B of the Brasileirão has a “recovery”. From Monday until the 19th, these 40 clubs (which include Coritiba and Operário, in Segundona, and Athletico, in the first division), will be able to reinforce themselves with athletes who competed in the state championships. Furthermore, officially, the departure must be by mutual agreement between the athlete and his home club.

This is what item C of paragraph 3 of article 33 of the National Athlete Registration and Transfer Regulations says. Read: “Termination by mutual agreement or termination of the special sports employment contract (including loan) with the previous club, or temporary assignment, which occurred between 04/01 and 04/19/2024, and, in these In these cases, the transfer request must be completed at the SNR by 04/19/2024. The athlete in question must have participated in the 2024 State Championship“.

Coritiba’s priorities

Coritiba continues to evaluate the squad and needs for the remainder of the season. The work became the responsibility of executive William Thomas, recently arrived at the club, with the support of coach Guto Ferreira, who remained in the position, and CEO Carlos Amodeo. Last week was disappointing for Alviverde fans, who saw Paranaense’s elimination not result in any internal changes.

Now, the focus is on the ball market. From the outset, Coritiba intends to bring in a right-back, a midfielder and a winger. These would be the priorities for the start of Series B. But Paranaense’s semi-final exit and failure in the Copa do Brasil make fans hope for good-quality signings. The concern of the fans – and, in part, within Coxa – is due to the good phase of some candidates for access, such as Santos, Novorizontino, Sport, Ceará and América-MG.
