Partizan Belgrade recorded its second straight defeat in the men’s basketball Euroleague regular season. After defeat to Real Madrid, Brazilian Bruno Caboclo’s team hosted Olympiacos, from Greece, for the 32nd round this Thursday (28). In the match, the Serbian team lost a 13-point lead in the last quarter and suffered a 74-69 defeat.

The defeat complicated Partizan’s hopes of qualifying for the Euroleague play-in. The setback caused the team to fall to 13th place, with just 14 wins in 32 games. With one more victory, Istanbul took 10th place and holds the last place in the next phase with two rounds remaining until the end of the regular season.

Despite this, Paritzan still has a chance of qualifying. To do this, they need to win the next two games and hope for Istanbul’s stumble. In the following rounds, Bruno Caboclo’s team faces bottom side Berlin away from home. Then, there will be a direct duel against Valencia, 14th placed in the same campaign, in Belgrade.

Absurd turn

Owner of the third best campaign in the Euroleague, Olympiacos was behind the scoreboard for most of the match. Needing the result, the home team built a big advantage in the first three stages. With 59 to 46 on the scoreboard, Partizan saw the distance dissolve in the last 10 minutes and lost their only period of the game by an incredible 28 to 10.

Despite the defeat, Bruno Caboclo had an outstanding individual performance. With just over 27 minutes on the court, the Brazilian player was the third highest scorer on his team with 13 points scored. In addition, he also gave 5 assists and came close to recording a double-double by grabbing 8 rebounds.
