He and the Croatian broke up after six years of partnership and nine Grand Slams won: “He is a friend of mine and my family and always will be. I love him very much and the end of our collaboration does not mean that this friendship ends. Our separation was As positive as something like this can be, we reached a point where we had to interrupt work we had been doing together for almost five years,” said the world number 1.
“Together we wrote the history of this sport, winning Grand Slams, finishing seasons at number 1, but we also went through difficult times,” Novak recalled, remembering his disqualification at the US Open or deportation from Australia. “I will always remember that he supported me when I needed it and brought the right values into my life. I wish him all the best”, commented the player from the Balkans, who intends to compete again in Monte Carlo.
He still isn’t clear on who his coach could be: “I still don’t have a clear idea of who my new coach will be, or if there will be one. I’ve had a coach since I was a child and now I try to discern for myself what I need and with what I feel more comfortable. I will communicate any news”, he concluded.
