On the one hand, Ana Machado opened her campaign by beating compatriot Mônica Reis in the first round of the knockout stage. Next, another national confrontation and another triumph for the 67th ranked archer in the world rankings: 7 to 1 against Isabelle Pereira. She beat Panamanian Gisela Chang in the quarterfinals (6-5) and advanced to the semifinals, where she would face Colombian Valentina Giraldo. In an even duel, Ana defeated her South American rival by a score of 6 to 4.
Ana Teodoro, on the other hand, began her journey with a 6-2 triumph over Chilean Javiera Andrades. Soon after, she eliminated the current 25th best athlete in the world, Colombian Ana Maria Rendón, who has seven medals at the Pan American Games. The Brazilian won the dispute by a score of 6 to 4. Later, Ana secured her place in the decision with victories over Colombian Valentina Contreras (6 to 2) and Brazilian Sarah Nikitin (6 to 4). Among men, earlier, Marcus D’Almeida suffered an early fall and was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
