Brazilian teams win 12 medals in the South American and WRE

The first medals began to be won in the South American Archery Championship and the World Ranking Event (WRE). This Wednesday (27), the recurve and composite bow team finals of both competitions took place. In the men’s, women’s and mixed competitions, Brazil reached the podium with gold or silver.

South American

The day began with the definition of medals for the South American archery tournament. In the mixed competitions, Brazil won gold in the recurve, while it took silver in the compound. In competitions between men’s and women’s teams, the country was champion in the compound and runner-up in the recurve of both suits.

In the mixed recurve, Marcus D’Almeida and Ana Luiza Caetano took no notice of the Chilean pair and went through without losing a set: 6-0. In the final, they played the South American classic against Argentina and won the medal with 5-3 on the scoreboard.

Larissa Oliveira and Lucas Abreu represented the country in the mixed compound competition. They started by beating Panama in the semifinals by 151 to 146. Facing Peru in the final, the pair ended up being beaten by just 3 points and took the silver medal, 155 to 158.

Sula men’s and women’s teams

Luccas Abreu, Jairo da Silva and José Cláudio Lousada won the gold medal in the team competition by defeating the Chile team by 232 to 227. Larissa Oliveira, Marianna Chaves and Camila Harada also became champions in the women’s event, beating Panama by 225 to 219.

Sarah Nikitin, Graziela Santos and Ana Luiza Caetano won silver in the women’s recurve after losing the final to Colombia 6-0. The men’s trio formed by Matheus Ely, Marcus D’Almeida and Mateus Carvalho lost the decision to Chile by 5-1 and also finished runner-up.

WRE Champions

The afternoon was dedicated to the WRE medal dispute, an event worth points in the world rankings and with the addition of teams from El Salvador and Cuba. In the recurve arch, Brazil won the gold medal in the men’s category, defeating Chile in the semifinals 6-0 and then achieving the same score against the Cubans in the final. In the women’s category, the team ended up with silver after a 6-0 defeat to Colombia. Before, in the semi-final, they had beaten the Chileans 6-2.

In the composite, the men’s team took silver after losing the final to El Salvador by 236 to 233. Same thing with the women’s team, which also had the Salvadorans as executioners in the final: 233 to 219. In the semifinal, the men had defeated Chile by 232 to 230, while the women beat Panama by 224 to 205.

In the mixed competition, Brazil became champions by defeating Chile in the semi-final 6-0 and repeating the score against Colombia in the final. In the composite, the country beat Peru 156 to 150 in the semi and then beat El Salvador in the final 156 to 154.
