Johnny Cabianca knows surfboards like no one else. For the last 35 years he has been dedicating himself to the art of shaping boards and deepening his knowledge of shaping in different places around the world. He can be considered a walking encyclopedia and is extremely detailed and demanding when it comes to the shape and modern production process of his high-end boards. He has worked with the best shapers in the world, as Matt Biolos would say: “he is as good as the rest, but no one knows that yet”. But the world would still know him.

Johnny started designing boards for a talented boy in his town, Maresias. He soon realized that this boy had much more than talent, Gabriel Medina had the ability to become world champion. So in 2014, Medina made history by being the first Brazilian to become world champion. Driven by his long work and the success of Medina, this year 2016 we began a new era: we opened the doors of the Basque Country Surf Company, opening a factory in Zarauz.

Johnny Cabianca has been developing DFK, with Gabriel, since 2009. The model helped him win two world titles.

Basque Country Surf Company (BCSC) was founded in 2016 by shapers and longtime friends Johnny Cabianca and Mikel Agote. BCSC has a brand new facility and R&D center in Zarautz, producing boards for the global market. To better serve his Brazilian customers, Johnny works together with Pró-Ilha, a factory that leads the production of surfboards in Brazil. The factory has cutting-edge technologies and a show room. Stay tuned to visit us and have a personal chat with Johnny.

Here at BCSC we are working on a new factory with the most up-to-date technology for producing surfboards, including the AKU Shaper shaping machine, which works in a simple way: it produces the original design of the board in a larger quantity without losing quality. Having our own shaping machine guarantees faster, more efficient and quality production for the customer.
