McLaren driver takes third place at the Australian Grand Prix and breaks the somewhat unusual record held by Nick Heidfeld; understand

Last Sunday, 24th, Lando Norris achieved his 14th podium in his career, during the Australian Grand Prix. But, as much as it doesn’t seem like anything, it meant a record break for the British McLaren. The pilot overtook Nick Heidfeldwhich ran between 2000 and 2011 for Formula 1becoming the driver with the most podiums without a single victory in the history of the category.

At 24 years old, Norris already has a lot of experience within Formula 1. Since 2019 driving for McLaren, the Briton already has six seasons, 107 Grands Prix contested, 14 podiums and one pole, achieved in the 2021 Russian Grand Prix. The long-awaited victory has not yet arrived.

At the Sochi Circuit, Norris lost first place to Lewis Hamilton by refusing to change his tires when it started to rain. The third place achieved this past Sunday, 24th, in Melbourne, placed Lando at the top of the list of drivers with the most podiums who have never won a race. “I managed to feel good and managed to manage the tires well. I wasn’t expecting to be on the podium, so I’m very happy. Obviously this track suits us a little more, but it’s another step in the direction of Ferrari and Red Bull. We need to catch up, but it’s clear we’re getting closer.”said the Briton, after the race.
