Miami (USA) – Hungarian Fabian Marozsan continues to be known for his impressive victories and managed to eliminate another top 10 on the way to the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 in Miami. This Tuesday, Marozsan beat Australian Alex de Minaur, number 10 in the rankings, with splits of 6/4, 0/6 and 6/1 in 1h45 of play.

This was Marozsan’s fourth victory in five career matches against top 10 teams. The 24-year-old Hungarian, currently ranked 57th, surprised the world last year when he defeated Carlos Alcaraz on clay in Rome. Also last season he also beat Casper Ruud in Shanghai. The Hungarian lost in the reunion with Alcaraz two weeks ago in Indian Wells, but in the second round in Miami he also defeated the Dane Holger Rune, seventh in the rankings.

In addition to his excellent record against opponents from the top 10, Marozsan is also accumulating a positive streak in Masters 1000. Despite having only played in four main draws in his career, he reaches the quarterfinals for the second time. And in the other two, he stopped in the eighth. As a result, he has accumulated 14 wins and only three defeats in tournaments of this size.

The campaign in Miami will also have a direct impact on the rankings for Marozsan. The Hungarian has already started the tournament with the best record of his career and will surpass it. With 200 points already guaranteed in Miami, he enters the top 40 of the ATP and could reach 38th place. If he wins one more, he has a great chance of reaching the top 30.

Marozsan’s opponent in the quarterfinals in Miami will come from the match between German Alexander Zverev, number 5 in the world, and Russian Karen Khachanov, 16th in the rankings. He has yet to face Zverev on the circuit and lost his only previous duel against Khachanov, held this year in Doha.
