Reason for postponement: 2024 Elections
Mayor Eduardo Paes stated, on Wednesday night (8), that he will not give authorization for singer Bruno Mars’ shows in the city due to preparations for the 2024 Elections. The statement, published on the mayor’s X (former Twitter) , comes hours after tickets for the artist’s performance, on October 4th, were sold out in less than an hour. The great demand even led the singer to announce a new performance on October 5th, at the Nilton Santos Stadium, Engenhão. The municipal election will be held on October 6th.
Paes justified the decision by claiming that the electoral process requires a very large mobilization of civil servants to take place. He also mentioned the need to have Military Police and Municipal Guard personnel for the elections.
