“iPhones 17” may have a “Slim” model and smaller Dynamic Island in Pro Max [atualizado]

We still have a few months until Apple launch the “iPhones 16”, but we already have more rumors about the line “iPhone 17”, which should only hit shelves in the second half of next year. According to 9to5Macthe analyst Jeff Pu stated that Apple will launch a “Slim” model to replace the “Plus” in the current line, as well as promoting significant design changes.

Pu did not provide any further details about what this new line of iPhones would be like, only limiting himself to saying that it will have a “slim design”. The model would have a 6.6-inch display, while the “iPhone 17″ would have 6.1”, the “iPhone 17 Pro” would have 6.3″ and the “iPhone 17 Pro Max” would come with 6.9″ — these larger sizes of 6.3″ and 6.9″ in the Pro line, in fact, should debut with the “iPhones 16 Pro/16 Pro Max” this year.

According to the analyst, the “iPhone 17”, the “iPhone 17 Slim” and the “iPhone 17 Pro” will feature a “more complex” type of aluminum in their constructions, while the “iPhone 17 Pro Max” would maintain the current titanium line — which will be an unprecedented decision by Apple if confirmed, given that the Pro and Pro Max models have always been traditionally similar visually.

In addition to the more resistant material, the “iPhone 17 Pro Max” can also feature a Dynamic Island (Dynamic Island) narrower than the current one, which would be the result of a new technology (according to Pu, called “metalens”) for the proximity sensor that would help Apple significantly reduce the size of Face ID on the device.

According to the analyst, next year’s basic iPhones will have 8GB of memory, while the Pro ones will have 12GB. Another change — this one, for the four devices — would be a major upgrade to the front camera, which would jump from 12 megapixels to 24MP.

The display market analyst Ross Young said today in a post for subscribers on X (formerly Twitter) that this new “iPhone 17 Slim” will specifically have a 6.55″.

As noted by 9to5Mac, this could be a move by Apple to further distance the Pro models from entry-level iPhones. This way, the largest possible iPhone size would be reserved only for the most expensive model.
