The Brazilian Association of Airlines (Abear) announced this Monday, 6th, that Salgado Filho Airport, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, will remain closed for an indefinite period, with all operations suspended. However, Fraport, responsible for managing the site, released a statement indicating the 30th of this month as the final date for the suspension of operations. The information is from RBS TV.

“To comply with airport legislation, today (6/5), a NOTAM (Notice to Airman) was issued with an end date of 30/5, which is an internationally recognized document, which has the purpose of disclosing changes and restrictions that may have an impact on airline operations. This notice is intended for companies and institutions related to aviation and can be changed at any time. We clarify that there is no forecast for the resumption of operations”, Fraport said in a statement.

The images released by Fraport show the situation at the airport, which was flooded, thus justifying the suspension of operations. The place has been closed since last Friday, the 3rd, due to the increase in the level of the Guaíba, which exceeded 5 meters and overflowed.

Flights to and from the capital were cancelled. Abear recommends that passengers contact the airline directly for rebooking or refund.
