But the death would have been confirmed at 10pm on Sunday, when, according to the mother, she was still in the hospital. And the body was taken to the Medical-Legal Institute (IML).

“Look, my son passed away at 10 pm. I left here at midnight, they [hospital] telling me that he was stable. Stable? Is this the trick they do to a mother? It gave me hope all night!”, he declared.

“Guys, he is my only son, I always had him, he was always with me. Why did the hospital do this to me?” he asked.

“I spent the whole night praying, kneeling in my living room, asking for Luis Felipe’s life for all that is holy, and now they come to say that my son’s body is already in the IML?”, he amended.

According to Luís’ friends, he fought with thieves to defend his girlfriend. Luis Felipe is a physical education teacher and was returning from a luau.

At around 6am, two men on a motorbike approached them and demanded cell phones. The woman claimed that she did not have any device, which would have angered the thieves. Luis then reacted and ended up shot.

The teacher was rescued with a bullet lodged in his intestine.

The case was registered at the 9th DP (Catete). The Civil Police are trying to identify the criminals.
