Authorities are still investigating four deaths that may be related to the storms. There are 111 missing and 276 injured, according to the State Civil Defense bulletin.

In total, 850,422 people were affected by the rains in Rio Grande do Sul. At least 121,957 were left homeless and 19,368 are in shelters.

Of the 497 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, 345 suffered some consequence of the storms. In the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, the water left people stranded and closed hospitals in Canoas. The atmosphere is that of a “war zone”.

Guaíba level is 5.27 meters, at 8 am, this Monday. The data comes from the State Secretariat for the Environment (SEMA), Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB) and Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). On Saturday (4), it had already surpassed the mark reached in 1941 (4.76 meters high), when it flooded a large part of the center of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.

Numbers of deaths and missing people can still “grow exponentially”, says governor. Eduardo Leite (PSDB) stated on Saturday (4) that the data can be changed due to situations that continue to be raised by the competent bodies.

Monday (6) and Tuesday (7) it shouldn’t rain in Porto Alegre. On Monday, the chance of a storm is 11%, compared to 14% on Tuesday. On both days, the forecast is for sun between clouds, according to Climatempo. Maximum temperatures may reach 35ºC in some cities and may reach 32ºC to 34ºC in Greater Porto Alegre. On Tuesday, says MetSul, the sun and heat will continue to prevail and the stormy rains are expected to be concentrated in the extreme south of the state and close to the borders.
