Globo reporter reveals diagnosis of illness after intense pain
Tiago Scheuer shared his diagnosis of shingles with his followers and stated that he faced the disease, which can have serious complications, last month.
The Globo reporter said he suffered a lot of pain due to the case and warned internet users.
“Have you ever had shingles or do you know someone who has had this disease? Because I had it last March and I confess to you that I felt a lot of pain. Today the newspaper O Globo, in fact, published a study, carried out in Brazil, saying that it had a 31% increase in the number of hospitalizations due to this disease comparing 2021 with 2023. So it’s no joke”, he began.
The journalist stated that his condition did not develop seriously. “I didn’t need to be hospitalized, although it’s good. But the pain was intense, it varied with sensations of shock, needles, burning, burning, punching…”, he added.
Scheuer then highlighted how he discovered the disease. “It started with a little red spot on my belly and that little spot grew day after day. Then it occupied part of my side and back. Not understanding anything, three days later, I went to a dermatologist. She diagnosed me with shingles and He already gave me antivirals to take. It was only three weeks later that the pain stopped completely. I’m fine,” he said.
“Herpes zoster is caused by the same virus as chickenpox. If you had chickenpox in childhood, the virus doesn’t go away, it stays dormant in our body and can return in adulthood taking advantage of an episode of low immunity, which was the in my case, or stress, or even depression. Normally, this disease affects people over fifty. I’m 40 and there are people younger than me who also suffer from it”, he concluded.
