An employee of the Doctor José Frota Institute Hospital (IJF)
, located in Fortaleza, Ceará, was shot dead and decapitated this Tuesday (23). Another man was also injured in the attack. The suspect escaped from the hospital unit on a motorcycle, but was arrested hours later in the city of Aquiraz, next to the capital of Ceará.
The crime took place in the IFJ cafeteria. In videos circulating on social media, it is possible to see the man’s body and head separated. According to Ceará’s Public Security Secretary, Samuel Elânio, the suspect’s partner works at the hospital and the crime was motivated by jealousy.
According to the secretary’s report, the suspect was an aggressive person and had been fired from the hospital a year ago. “He had already been showing attitudes of a jealous person and had already given signs that he could practice something similar to that”, he explained.
Authorities speak out
The mayor of Fortaleza, José Sarto (PDT), lamented the case on social media. “It is unacceptable for violence in Fortaleza to continue the way it is. Today once again we are experiencing moments of horror. Two brutal murders. The State Government’s paralysis in the fight against factions does not seem to be just incompetence, but also complicity”, he pointed out.
The governor of Ceará, Elmano de Freitas, praised the work of the state’s Security Forces. “Our police have just arrested the perpetrator of the crime that occurred this morning on the premises of the IJF, in Fortaleza. Now, he will answer in court for the barbaric crime he committed”, said the head of the State Executive.
