Lando Norris won for the first time in Formula 1 in his 110th race in the category, getting rid of the nickname “Nowins” (without victories, in English). The Briton’s relief was clear in his euphoric celebration, while the championship leader, Max Verstappen, wanted nothing to do with imagining scenarios that didn’t happen.
When the Dutchman was asked if he thought he would have won the race without the Safety Car when only Norris had not yet made his pit stop, he responded in his very sincere style.
“It’s always a question of ‘if’, isn’t it? If my mother had balls, she would be my father,” Max Verstappen.
Verstappen did not have the same balance as in previous races in the car, and he even made a mistake, leaving the track, and running over a cone.

Fan for Norris
The Dutchman, the championship leader, was in first place until he stopped in the pits, six laps before an accident between Kevin Magnussen and Logan Sargeant caused the Safety Car to be deployed.
Spending less time stopping under the SC regime, Norris returned to the lead, even exciting the narrator of the Miami circuit.
“Come on, my son”, shouted the circuit narrator at the restart.
Verstappen ended up not having the pace to attack the Briton, but the race was tense until the end at McLaren. The team feared that another Safety Car could put the team’s first victory since 2020 at risk. Especially when Piastri started to have more fierce competitions on the track.
“Oscar, remember that Lando is leading the race and we don’t want a Safety Car”, engineer speaking to Norris’ companion.
At the end of the race, Norris showed his relief at having won for the first time in F1 with the team for which he debuted in 2019.
“I love you, thank you so much. Thank you mom, thank you dad, this victory is for grandma.”
Carlos Sainz awesome
The Spaniard complained several times during the race. First, he wanted Ferrari to order a change of positions between him and Leclerc, as he felt he was faster. But the Monegasque improved his pace.
Afterwards, he asked for punishment for Oscar Piastri, saying that the Australian pushed him off the track during the dispute between the two.
After learning that Piastri would not be punished, when the engineer gave him new instructions, he didn’t want to hear any talk.
