Planalto is irritated by Maduro and sees Venezuela’s ‘break of agreement’

Corina Yoris was chosen as the representative of the opposition to Maduro after the Venezuelan justice system, controlled by Chavismo, vetoed the participation in the dispute of María Corina, the country’s greatest anti-Bolivarian leader.

Lula has a history of relativizing the Venezuelan dictatorship. At the beginning of March, asked about the veto on María Corina’s participation in the electoral dispute, the president compared the episode to the ban imposed on him from being a candidate for President in 2018. “I was prevented from running in the 2018 elections. crying, I nominated another candidate and he contested the elections”, he stated at the time.

In 2018, Lula was arrested in Curitiba and prevented from running under the Clean Record Law. Without authorization to contest, he appointed the current Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, as his representative at the polls. In 2021, the president’s convictions were annulled by the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
