It’s no secret to ARMYs that the year 2018, despite being the period in which BTS’ career was increasingly taking off abroad, was extremely difficult for the group’s members. The fact is even revealed by the artists during the documentary “BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star”, available on Disney+.

During production, the members explain that, that year, they needed to decide issues related to contract renewal, something that generated great doubt among the seven, due to the high exposure to the spotlight.

“We all thought a lot about giving up. All of this made us feel a lot of pressure. We were scared. With no one to advise,” says Suga in the documentary.

The difficulties of 2018 came back to the surface during the conversation between Suga It is V on the program “Suchwita”, where Taehyung (real name of V) stated that this was the most difficult moment of his life. According to the artist, during this period, he suffered from strong insecurity related to his performance and abilities.

“I started comparing myself to others. ‘Because my pace is slower than the members and my thoughts are a little different… is that why I’m more exhausted?’ I thought about it a lot,” says V. “Whenever I looked at our members while we performed, [eu pensava:] ‘The members are so perfect and enjoy the stage. But why am I the only one like this?’ So, relatively, my exhaustion was severe.”

According to Taehyungthe peak of his exhaustion occurred during preparations for the release of “Fake Love”, a track that is now known for being one of BTS’ biggest hits.

“I was so exhausted that I asked, ‘Since we only have dance practice tomorrow, would it be okay if we took a day off?’ But we were preparing for our comeback and it was an important dance practice, so we couldn’t rest… all this negativity built up inside me. I didn’t think I could do anything in that state, so I kept thinking of ways to rest, but I couldn’t think of anything, so I even thought I should hurt myself [‘Se eu me machucasse, eu iria poder descansar?’]. I thought I should hurt myself, but now I want to change this past me.”

At the end of your outburst, V still calms Suga and all ARMYs by stating that all these thoughts have gone away, and that nowadays it is much better.

Difficulties of other members

Vhowever, he wasn’t the only one having difficulties in 2018. Even during the documentary “BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star”, he reveals that he even cried with Jungkook It is J-Hope due to the pressure of being in the spotlight.

“Jungkook and I talked and cried together. I talked and cried with Hobi [apelido de J-Hope] also. We shed a lot of tears at that time,” she says.

In production, Suga He also says that they all thought about giving up, as the seven of them were exhausted from the tiring routine of fame and had reached their limit.

“It seems like we have 20 years of experience in our six or seven year career. In the end, we were exhausted. We had already gone beyond our limit. Everyone is suffering because of these thoughts. We seriously thought about stopping. We didn’t believe that fame was a scale we could control.”
