PMCE participates in the Yellow May campaign: “Peace in traffic begins with you”

This Friday (3), the Ceará Military Police (PMCE), through the State Urban and Highway Traffic Police Battalion (BPRE), will hold, at the 1st BPRE Company, in Caucaia, the opening of the May Campaign Yellow, which will have as its theme, this year, “Peace in traffic begins with you”.

Throughout the month, state highway police officers will participate in actions with the aim of inviting society to reflect on the importance of kindness in traffic. The campaign draws society’s attention to the alarming number of traffic accidents and injuries around the world. Among these, there will be: lectures in schools, companies and public bodies; awareness on social media; participation in events related to the month together with other bodies, and educational blitzes with distribution of informative material on traffic safety.

“We emphasize BPRE’s commitment to promoting traffic safety and preserving life. To this end, we will intensify educational and inspection activities on state highways. We believe that the Yellow May Campaign will contribute to the reduction of traffic accidents in the state, raising awareness among the population of the importance of safe and responsible behavior on the roads”, according to Lieutenant-Colonel Nazareno Cordeiro, commander of PMCE’s BPRE.

The choice of the month is due to the date May 11, 2011, on which the United Nations – UN decreed the Decade of Action for Road Safety. As a result, the month of May has become a global reference for taking stock of the actions that the entire world takes. In relation to “yellow”, the choice is due to the fact that the color symbolizes traffic signs, which refer to warning and attention.
