‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’: ‘Spider-Man’ Director Wants to Direct New Film in the Franchise

In an interview with Colliderthe director Jon Watts (‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’) revealed that he would love to direct a new film in the franchise ‘The nightmare time‘.

“I don’t have much interest in directing well-known franchises. I want to create my own original ideas, but I love ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. It would be a lot of fun to helm a new film in the ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ franchise, and this is a saga that could continue to get new films forever.”

He completes, “I would have to reflect a lot on this. I really love ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. It’s an excellent franchise. I love those movies! Why haven’t they made more films from that franchise yet?”

Previously, Heather Langenkamp (‘The Midnight Club’), eternal final girl Nancy Thompson in ‘The nightmare time‘, revealed that he would love to reprise his role in a new film in the franchise:

“God, yes. I mean, of course. She’s a great character. How can you say no? I just need someone to get this off the ground. Especially considering The New Nightmare – The Return of Freddy Krueger (1994). I really think there are still a lot of great opportunities for great new battles to come.”, she stated.

And she’s not the only one interested! The producer Jason Blumcreator of Blumhousestated that he believes it is possible to convince the actor Robert Englund to reprise his role as the iconic villain Freddy Krueger in a reboot of the saga: “I could convince him to reprise the role. I could convince anyone. I mean, Ellen Burstyn is 87 years old, and I convinced her to return in the upcoming sequel to ‘The Exorcist.’ [Englund] He’s still young. He’s only 75.”
