In a podcast interview Fail Better, Ben Stiller revealed that he was completely shocked by the failure of the sequel’Zoolander 2‘.

The actor stated that the public’s negative reception and lack of interest took him by surprise, making him question his own decisions and career.

“I really thought everyone wanted a sequel [de ‘Zoolander’]. Then we realized we were completely wrong. People didn’t come to watch [a sequência nos cinemas], and the reviews were negative. It scared me, I was like, ‘I didn’t know it was that bad’.”

With the unexpected negative reception, the actor revealed that he began to doubt himself: “What scared me most was wondering if I was losing track of what was funny. It was definitely a surprise to me, and it affected me for a long time. If the film had been a success, [o estúdio] would probably ask me to do ‘Zoolander 3’, and I would accept the opportunity.
