“The entire cast is completely committed here, but Nell Tiger Free dominates the screen. The physical intensity she conveys in The First Prophecy is visceral. What’s most striking – for better or worse – is how timely and timeless the prevailing motivation for the horror here is.”

“The 1976 version of The First Prophecy had some chilling and controversial scenes, and The First Prophecy raises the bar. The film is a worthy prequel to the original. The First Prophecy is scary, dark and disturbing. There is one scene in particular that will certainly give people something to talk about.”

“I would expect such relentlessly macabre horror from a small studio, not 20th Century. Graphic, sinister and with a prolonged homage to Possession.”

“The First Prophecy left me astonished. An incredibly reflective and impactful analysis of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, while maintaining the tension of the original film. This is the religious horror I’ve been waiting for. Oddly repulsive.”
