New adventure across the seas will have a script by the creator of The Last of Us.

One of the great franchises of the 2000s, Pirates of the Caribbean represents an important Disney intellectual property. Although there have been no new films for x years, the franchise has earned more than 4 billion dollars at the global box office, from the five chapters of the saga.

With no news since 2017, several rumors involve the return of Jack Sparrow, Will Turner III and Elizabeth Swann – something that, little by little, is taking a certain direction: these beloved characters are not expected to return in the next chapter. In an interview with ComicBookPirates of the Caribbean 6 producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that the next film will be a reboot.

New Pirates of the Caribbean film with a current star? New rumor suggests that we finally don’t need Johnny Depp anymore

Asked about adventures across the seas and skies, Pirates of the Caribbean and Top Gun, the executive gave some clues about the future. “You really don’t know [o que vem por aí],” he initially said. “Because with Top Gun, you have an actor who is iconic and brilliant. And how many movies he’ll do before Top Gun, I can’t tell you. But we’re going to reboot Pirates [do Caribe]so it’s easier to build because you don’t have to wait for certain actors.”

The producer’s speech probably refers mainly to Johnny Depp. Involved in a long-lasting trial, even though he was acquitted of the charge, the actor is not expected to return to Mickey’s House anytime soon. In addition to him, there is still the challenge of reconciling the schedules of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley.

Nobody noticed, but Pirates of the Caribbean has a prequel: Few know it, but it explains the mystery about Jack Sparrow

In 2022, Bruckheimer had already anticipated that the interpreter of Jack Sparrow would not return. Among the recent rumors, there is also a possible new project starring Margot Robbie that would not necessarily be the sixth chapter of the franchise. “We think we have a really good, moving story that pays homage to the previous films but also has something new to say,” Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, told The New York Times in June of last year.

Although there is not much information about the upcoming project, it is known that Craig Mazin, creator of The Last of Us, is on board the pirate ship as a screenwriter alongside Ted Elliott. To the LA Timeshe described the story as “very strange”, something that seems to have pleased Disney.

There is still no release date for the new Pirates of the Caribbean.
