A man was sentenced to 12 years in prison in a closed regime by the Jury Court, for attempted murder and corruption of a minor, in Dionísio Cerqueira, in the west of Santa Catarina. According to the complaint, he tried to stab his ex-father-in-law and threatened to kill his ex-partner, with the help of a 15-year-old teenager.

The crime took place on December 9, 2014 and was reported by the Public Ministry of Santa Catarina (MPSC). That day, the man chased his ex-father-in-law by car on the BR-163, in Dionísio Cerqueira, and tried to kill him with at least three knife blows. The defendant’s 15-year-old brother was also in the car. The victim survived, as he was rescued by the Fire Department and taken to the hospital.

According to the information in the process, the man’s objective was to get revenge on the ex-wife’s father, who would be supporting her in the separation. Because of this, the crime had the aggravating motive of clumsy motive.

On the same day, the accused threatened his ex-partner, saying “I can’t live without you, I’d rather see you dead than with someone else,” according to the complaint. For the threat, he was also sentenced to one month and 15 days in detention.

The man is already in prison, as he was sentenced to 22 years, four months and 10 days in prison in another criminal case, for the murder of a former partner.
