Testicular cancer was responsible for more than 3,700 deaths in Brazil between 2012 and 2021, of which 60% were among men aged 20 to 39, according to the Inca Mortality Atlas (National Cancer Institute).
Testicular cancer is easy to identify
The male reproductive organs, known as testicles, are housed in the scrotum, playing a fundamental role in the production of sperm and testosterone, the hormone responsible for male sexual traits.
Although it represents only 1% of tumor cases that affect men, the incidence of testicular cancer has increased in recent years.
Unlike other types of cancer, especially urological cancers, which tend to occur in older men and are related to aging, testicular cancer is a condition that predominantly affects young men.
Testicular cancer is easily identified through self-examination, carried out by touching the testicles, which are external organs. When diagnosed at an early stage, within the testicle itself and without metastasis, it has cure rates that vary between 90% and 95%. Therefore, the importance of self-examination stands out.
