The Center Georges Pompidou, a famous contemporary art museum based in Paris, will have a branch in Brazil. The new unit, the institution’s first in Latin America, will be installed in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná.
The agreement to establish a branch in Foz do Iguaçu was formalized through an agreement between the Government of Paraná and the French institution. The contract was signed today (06), in Paris, by state governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Júnior and Laurent Le Bon, president of the Center Georges Pompidou.
Branch of the Georges Pompidou Center will be installed close to the Iguaçu National Park
The new museum (which will even be the first art museum in Foz do Iguaçu!) will be installed in a strategic location, close to Foz do Iguaçu International Airport. The space will be very close to the Iguaçu National Park and Parque das Aves, two of the region’s main tourist attractions. CCR Aeroportos, the company that manages the airport in Paraná, will finance the architectural project.
In addition to the French headquarters, Pompidou has “antennas”, as its units are called, in Belgium, Spain and China. The idea is that the Foz do Iguaçu unit has a Brazilian bias.
