Aiming to improve the quality of specialized and routine public health care, Arapongas City Hall has an investment package of approximately R$20 million for the coming months. “Our commitment is to make health a reference. Not only with investments, but also guaranteeing humanized service”, says the mayor of Arapongas, Sérgio Onofre.

The department’s secretary, Moacir Paludetto Jr, views the investments – already guaranteed by municipal management – with enthusiasm, reaffirming the commitment to meeting the real needs of the population. “These are investments that will make Arapongas experience a new moment in public health, prioritizing patients and all health professionals”, he says.

NEW VEHICLES

The investment package includes the acquisition of six new vehicles for the Department of Health, which will assist in transporting patients, distributing vaccines and other necessary services. Of the six vehicles, four will be used by the Health Transport Center, expanding the current fleet and replacing old vehicles. The investment will be R$533,340.00. Delivery is expected in May. Also optimizing patient transport, the Municipal Health Department purchased six new ambulances and three vans, with an investment of R$2,049,600.00, with delivery scheduled for June.

“In 2023 alone, more than 22 thousand services were provided by this sector. One of the vans has already been delivered and the municipality is awaiting the delivery of the others by the companies that won the bid”, says Paludetto Jr. Two more buses were purchased by the municipality, which will replace other vehicles that are more than 10 years old. Also according to Health, the main places where patients are transported by bus are Londrina and Curitiba. In addition to its own buses, the municipality, through the Health Consortium (CISVIR), has an agreement with Viação Garcia, which also transports these patients when necessary. Delivery is expected in August – with an investment of R$ 1,150,000.00.

MOBILE DENTAL UNIT

Strengthening oral health care is also part of the investment volume. For the second half of 2024, the Municipal Health Department will acquire a Mobile Dental Unit – approved by the federal government. The Unit will enable the development of various actions, including clinical care by the oral health team in areas of distant communities, including schools, companies and health events. The investment is R$513,625.00.

REFORM OF UBS’S AND CISAM

With the approval of the state government and guarantee of resources, renovations are planned for five Basic Health Units (UBS’s). They are: Araponguinha, Araucaria, Bandeirantes, Centauro Tropical and San Raphael. In addition to renovations and readjustments at the Integrated Women’s Health Center (Cisam). “Planning for the execution of the works is already being done by the municipality’s Department of Works so that the State Government can authorize the bidding process”, states the Secretary of Health. The bidding is expected to take place in the second half of 2024. With investments of R$ 1,750,000.00.

NEW UBS’s

Expanding access to Basic Health Care, Arapongas has already guaranteed the construction of four new UBS’s. Two of them will replace old owned units, such as those in Alto da Boa Vista and Guadalupe, another will replace a unit that currently operates in rented property – in the Campinho region. And the fourth will be built at Residencial Bem Viver Arapongas. According to the Department of Health, the bidding is scheduled for the first half of 2024, with an investment of R$6,800,000.00.

EQUIPMENT ACQUISITION

Over the last seven years, the Department of Health has invested in the acquisition of new equipment, allowing professionals to offer quality services to the entire population. In this sense, in 2024 new bidding processes were carried out and others are already planned. Among the highlighted areas are: Primary Care, Oral Health, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy and Urgency and Emergency. The investment is in the order of R$ 3,536,000.00.

CHILDREN’S CAPS

Also noteworthy is the final stretch of construction of the Children’s Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS-i), in the Jardim Lorena region. In addition to the physical structure, the space will receive new equipment. The total investment will be R$3,640,000.00. The delivery date has already been set: June 1st. “This establishment will be a reference in our municipality for all children and adolescents who need psychosocial support. Currently, these services are provided at CAPS located on Rua Tucanos, which also serves adults”, concluded Paludetto Jr.
