Truth, respect, courage and solidarity. These are some of the words that the potiguar immediately associates when he remembers the Inter TV Cabugi, an affiliate of Rede Globo, which on September 1, 2022 turns 35 years old. Evolution and technology and commitment to the future of the state consolidate the station as the main communication vehicle in Rio Grande do Norte.

Based in the capital Natal, the concession of channel 11 VHF was granted in 1986 by the then president of the republic José Sarney. A year later, on September 1, 1987, it operated in the first days through channel 3 VHF, where a retransmitter of TV Globo Nordeste operated, which carried TV Globo programming to Potiguares since 1977.

The station’s first headquarters was a small building located in the Lagoa Nova neighborhood, where 15 years later the current headquarters would be built, fully adapted to the operation of a TV station. The first programs produced by the channel were Bom Dia RN and RNTV, the latter in three daily editions. In 2009, it replaced the old microwave links with satellite transmission.

On March 27, 2015, Inter TV inaugurated the second station in Rio Grande do Norte, Inter TV Costa Branca, based in Mossoró – it is the seventh Globo affiliate of the Inter TV group, present in three Brazilian states. In 2018, Inter TV Cabugi started to have its 100% digital signal, providing the best image and audio quality, valuing the best consumption experience.

In addition to the newscasts Bom Dia RN, RN 1, RN 2 and Inter TV Rural, entertainment programs, such as Rota Inter TV and Resenhas do RN, value the culture of the state and the Potiguar is seen on the screen of Inter TV Cabugi.

There are 44 municipalities that belong to the broadcaster’s coverage area, totaling more than 1.5 million viewers.

According to André Freire, programming director, Inter TV Cabugi assesses the relationship with the potiguares as consolidated.

“With the advancement of technologies and new entertainment alternatives, the challenge of remaining a protagonist came to exist in the routine of television stations, but Inter TV Cabugi never wavered. being leaders, including in the competition with videos on demand and streaming. For us, it is a pride to be part of the daily life of the potiguar, and to be remembered as synonymous with quality and credibility”, emphasized André Freire.
