A merchant was shot dead during a robbery that took place on Wednesday night (31) at the market and his house in the rural area of Ceará-Mirim, in Grande Natal.
The crime took place around 8 pm and is initially investigated by the Civil Police as robbery – which is robbery resulting in death.
According to the Division of Homicide and Protection of Persons (DHPP), the case took place at the Tamanduá site. The victim was identified as 47-year-old Edilson Nascimento de Souza.
Initial investigations by the Civil Police indicate that the crime occurred during a robbery at the grocery store. According to the police, the victim was at home with his family, at the back of the commercial establishment, when armed criminals arrived and invaded the place.
The bandits stole money, jewelry and a car and, shortly before leaving the property, shot the man.
According to the Military Police, the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called, but when the team arrived at the scene, they found the man dead.
Police did not say whether Edilson reacted to the robbery or if he was killed for another reason. This will be one of the pieces of information that agents will seek to discover during the investigation.
