After dismissing Uruguay, Brazil welcomes Hercules from Argentina in Canoas

A Hercules plane is landing in Canoas, bringing the first aid sent by the Argentine government to Rio Grande do Sul.

The head of the Argentine Army, Brigadier General Carlos Alberto Presti, together with the Minister of Defense, Dr. Luis Petri, and the Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Xavier Isaac, said goodbye this afternoon to a commission from the 601st Engineer Group that left in a KC-130H Hercules plane from the Argentine Air Force (FAA) bound for Greater Porto Alegre.

One officer and seven non-commissioned officers boarded the Hércules and will operate two water treatment units with Reverse Osmosis Filtration (FOI), one of them equipped with a bottling machine, which will provide safe water for the population affected by the floods and for Brazilian Army personnel who works in this civil protection operation.

The units have the capacity to purify 1,800 liters per hour through microfiltration and 600 liters per hour through reverse osmosis.

The landing of the FAA KC-130H takes place later this afternoon in Canoas, after the Argentine plane made several turns while awaiting clearance to land at the Air Base, which has been congested due to high air traffic resulting from rescue operations in the region.

Just yesterday, the government denied the arrival of another KC-130H Hércules, this time from Fuerza Aérea Uruguaya, claiming “rrunway restrictions available for landing in Porto Alegre“. The decision created noise on the Uruguayan side and had repercussions in the press, with the government countering several journalists by stating that it did not refuse any help:
