Floods in Rio Grande do Sul caused immense devastation, leaving thousands of people homeless and in need of help. Several entities and initiatives are mobilizing to help the victims of the tragedy, and the work of volunteers has been essential in supporting the population. See below some options for signing up and being able to volunteer:
SOS Rio Grande do Sul
The state government has its own form for registering volunteers for the SOS Rio Grande do Sul program. The State Protection Coordination and Civil Defense are responsible for collecting data from people who wish to work in support of those affected by the floods.

For health professionals interested in working in disaster situations, such as floods, the Ministry of Health is recruiting volunteers for the SUS National Force. The registration is aimed at doctors, nurses, psychologists, pharmacists, biomedical scientists, among others.

If you can’t physically be in Rio Grande do Sul but still want to help, there are remote volunteering opportunities. Volunteers can assist via computers or cell phones, performing tasks such as updating donation information and confirming redemptions.
