After updating data from the State Department of Health of Minas Gerais (SES-MG), this week, only one city in the south of Minas remains without any confirmed cases of dengue in 2024.
According to SES-MG, the region reached 106.1 thousand infections since the beginning of the year and reached the mark of 47 deaths registered in 2024. Just this week, there were +12,459 confirmed cases and 10 new deaths.
Amid the weekly increase in contamination and deaths, only one city in the south of Minas still has no confirmed cases of the disease: Flag of the South.
Increase in cases in the region
The number of confirmed cases of the disease in the region already represents more than double what was recorded last year in the south of Minas. According to SES-MG, the region already has 106,196 cases of the disease. Throughout 2023, there were 41,586 confirmations in the region.
Varginha continues to lead the number of cases in the region and reached 15,413 this week. Três Corações (+6,720), Passos (6,664) and Alfenas (3,521) come next, as the municipalities with the most registrations.
During the week, Passos is the city where the number of cases increases the most. There were +1,099 notifications in the last seven days, against +856 from Três Corações and +775 from Varginha.
