President stated that animals deserve “a good rest”; I was stranded in Canoas (RS) since Wednesday (May 8)

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said this Thursday (May 9, 2024) that he went to sleep restless on Wednesday night (May 8) because of the horse that was stranded on a roof in Canoas (RS) .

“I wonder if that horse thought like we imagine thoughts are, what was that horse thinking? Alone, on top of a roof, I don’t know how that Brasilit tile didn’t break”said the president during the announcement of federal government measures to help Rio Grande do Sul.

Initially, the information was that it was a horse, but the firefighters responsible for the rescue said it was a female. Later, according to the newspaper The globea veterinary examination confirmed that the animal was male.

The horse that was stranded was rescued around 11am this Thursday (May 9). In the images of the rescue, broadcast by GloboNewsit is possible to see at least 7 people equipped with vests and helmets working in the operation, in addition to 2 fire department boats.

“Today I found out that they already saved the horse. They managed to get the horse out. I hope no one rides that horse for a long time, because he deserves a good rest.”stated Lula.

First Lady Janja Lula da Silva stated that she had contacted the military commander of the South, General Hertz Pires do Nascimento, to mobilize the Army to rescue the animal. She shared a video of the team getting into an Army helicopter.

After the rescue, she published an emotional video celebrating the horse’s rescue. “We managed to save another life. That’s it, folks. Strength, Rio Grande do Sul”said the first lady.
