Still without a coach, Coritiba travels to Santa Catarina in silence

-

Coritiba finalizes this Thursday (9) part of the preparation for the duel with Avaí, which is scheduled for Saturday (11), at 9 pm, in Ressacada, for the fourth round of Series B. In the morning, the cast works at CT da Graciosa and in the afternoon they travel towards Florianópolis.

On Friday (10), the team will do one last activity in the morning, at Orlando Scarpelli, Figueirense stadium. In other words, without a coach hired after the dismissal of Guto Ferreira, last Friday (3), assistant James Freitas is the one who will lead the team at the weekend.

The interim was the one who worked with the group since last Monday (6), when the squad re-presented itself after the 1-0 defeat to Sport. Furthermore, he had been following the work of the former technical committee and, thus, he will continue in his role against Avaí and, possibly, against Guarani, in a duel that takes place on Tuesday (14), at 9:30 pm, at Couto Pereira.

Coritiba in silence

Since Guto Ferreira’s resignation was announced, Coritiba’s board started looking for several names on the market, mapping possibilities that fit the profile sought after and also within budget.

Several names were considered, such as Mano Menezes, Alex, Thiago Carpini and Vanderlei Luxemburgo. The first two are already discarded, while Carpini was the main focus. The 39-year-old coach gained access with Juventude last year and in 2024 led São Paulo, winning the Brazilian Super Cup. The club has already sought information about the professional, but nothing has progressed beyond a survey and, subsequently, the name fell out of priority.

Regardless of the name chosen, Coxa prefers to work in silence and does not officially confirm or deny some polls. If, initially, the idea was to bring in a new coach as quickly as possible, the objective now is not to rush, to avoid a new mistake and hire someone who can remain at the club for a long period.

Avaí x Coritiba will have full coverage of Band B, with narration by Anderson Luís, comments by Cristian Toledo and reports by Ricardo Brejinski. The broadcast starts at 8:30 pm. Follow the match via AM 550for the FM 79.3, in our app, on social media and via our YouTube channel.
