2024 elections: see who the pre-candidates for mayor of Arapiraca are | Alagoas

At least three candidates must compete for mayor of Arapiraca, the second largest electoral domicile in Alagoas, in the October elections this year. They have already confirmed their pre-candidacies at official events.

Parties and federations will carry out party conventions between July 20th and August 5th, according to the electoral calendar. It is during this period that the parties will formalize the candidates who will compete in this year’s elections. From then on, the parties have another 10 days to make the names chosen at the conventions official by registering their candidacies with the Electoral Court.

The first round of the election will take place on October 6. A possible second round should take place on the 27th of the same month, but in Alagoas a second vote only takes place in Maceió.

According to the election rules, for a second round to take place, the municipality must have at least 200,000 voters, and Arapiraca did not reach this level. According to the Regional Electoral Court, the municipality has 154,970 voters eligible to vote until this Tuesday (7).

Fabiana Pessoa began her public life as a councilor for Arapiraca. She already commanded the municipality when she took over as mayor after the death of Rogério Teófilo, of whom she was deputy mayor. She spent the last four months of her term as mayor of Arapiraca. She also held the position of state secretary of Social Action in the first government of Paulo Dantas (MDB) from May 15 to December 31, 2022. She recently took over the municipal directory of the Liberal Party (PL) in Arapiraca.

Public servant and community leader, Lindomar Ferreira held the position of coordinator of the Municipal Civil Defense of Arapiraca under the current mayor Luciano Barbosa (MDB). He left the position after joining the PSDB to run for mayor of the city. He was already state president of Solidariedade and candidate for state deputy in 2022 for Avante. In 2016 and 2020 he also ran for mayor of Arapiraca.

Tarcizo Freire (Solidarity)

Born in Caruaru-PE, Tarcizo Freire is a lawyer and was a Military Police Officer. He then took on the position of sub-delegate in the municipality of Girau do Ponciano, for a period of two years. He was elected councilor for the municipality of Arapiraca for the first time in 1988, renewing his term consecutively until 2014. He was elected state deputy twice, in 2014 and 2018. In 2020, for Progressistas, he ran for mayor of Arapiraca. In 2022, he failed to be re-elected state deputy.
