The institution’s Inspection team recorded more than 20 drivers driving under the influence of alcohol
The State Department of Traffic of Amazonas (Detran-AM), through its Inspection team, launched between Friday (03) and the early hours of Sunday (05), operations Volante and Lei Seca, in all zones from Manaus.

During the two operations, more than 800 vehicles were stopped, with 349 drivers being charged, 20 motorcycles and seven cars were removed.
The general coordinator of Detran-AM Inspection, Arthur Cruz, emphasizes that the main objective of the action is to maintain road safety for everyone.
“Our purpose is to inhibit and curb any traffic violation that compromises road safety, with a focus on vehicles without license plates, free unloading, drivers driving under the influence of alcohol, among others”, he explains.
During Operation Prohibition, 20 drivers were caught under the influence of alcohol, and another 12 refused to take a blood alcohol test.
According to the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), drivers who are caught breaking the law will suffer the penalty of suspension of their right to drive for 12 months, the vehicle will be removed and they will pay a fine of R$ 2,934.70.

Drivers who refuse to take a breathalyzer test will also be punished with the following sanctions: suspension of the right to drive for 12 months, in addition to a fine of R$2,934.70 and the vehicle will be removed.
