The former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) was hospitalized to treat a skin infection this Saturday morning, 4th, in Manaus. He arrived in the capital of Amazonas on Friday, the 3rd, already in discomfort, and was treated on Saturday morning at a private hospital in the city, which diagnosed a case of erysipelas, the same bacterial infection that affected him in November 2022, after of the defeat in the presidential elections.
Upon leaving the hospital, Bolsonaro spoke briefly to journalists. “A case of erysipelas appeared. I didn’t sleep all last night. My wife and the doctors didn’t want me to come, but I had an appointment here (in Manaus). I’m a bit tough when it comes to falling. So I came and was treated well by the doctors,” he said.
As it is a bacterial infection, erysipelas is treated with antibiotics. Depending on the severity of the condition, signs of improvement begin to appear within 48 hours of starting the medication.
