A police report can be made online in MS, but there are conditions

If you have been robbed or even involved in a traffic accident without victims, know that it is possible to notify the Civil Police or the BPMTran (Military Traffic Police Battalion) in Mato Grosso do Sul without leaving home, through the online service -line offered by Devir (Virtual Police Station).

However, it is worth remembering that not all crimes can be reported to the authorities remotely. There are some conditions for virtual registration, which can be done at Devir 24 hours a day, free of charge. Approval takes place within one business day and depends on the flow of demand and registered time.

Only some crimes do not need to be reported to authorities in person. Are they:

• Theft: Record the “simple” theft of an object or document, that is, that there was no violence or serious threat against the person who was injured. It is defined by Article 155 of the Penal Code as “taking away, for oneself or for others, someone else’s movable property”. Vehicle robberies, with or without a firearm, are not accepted and must be registered in person.
• Loss: The occurrence corresponds to the loss of an object or document, which is not a public asset, which occurred in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul and is not related to any criminal act such as robbery, embezzlement, etc.
• Disappearance of person: The anguish of the disappearance of a loved one, colleagues or acquaintances can impact our routine. This way, records can be made by Devir.
• Traffic accident without victim: The Military Police also remotely record accidents that left no victims. Any of the parties involved in the accident can register online.

During registration, it is necessary to provide personal data and a report of the fact, so that investigations can begin. In addition to crimes, victims or witnesses can also report complaints to the police without leaving home. It is mandatory to provide the address of the incident and a description of the complaint.

Even so, the Civil Police informed the Midiamax Newspaper that it may be necessary to seek in-person assistance, even if your registration falls within those permitted by Devir.

Access the Devir website at this link and click on “Register Police Report” in the Citizen Service area. When entering the registry, a message about the criminality of false reporting of a crime or complaint appears. The Civil Police automatically tracks your computer access to ensure everyone’s safety.

Now, you are automatically directed to the police report registration area. Choose the crime you want to report (theft, loss or disappearance of a person).

Again, a message from Devir regarding opening hours and urgency appears on your screen. Press “OK” and then click “Continue” at the bottom of the screen to start registration.

In the registration area, the victim must follow a few steps. In the case of theft/loss, there are eight, in which the person details the date, place, fact and more about the lost object.

Traffic accident without victim

The Corporation responsible for registering cases of traffic accidents without a victim is BPMTran, but the victim can also start the registration via the Devir website. In the “Citizen Service” tab, click on “Online Traffic Report – PM”.

Automatically, the user is redirected to the Military Police website. You can also access it directly through this link. Click on Register Traffic Accident.

A newsletter with the words “Your newsletter will be sent by email after analysis, expected within 2 (two) business days” appears on the screen. Press “Close” and proceed.

It is necessary to carefully read the terms of use and accept them before starting to report crimes. The user must also provide some data, such as personal contact, location and date of the event, vehicles, etc.

In the case of PM, it is necessary to carry out a quick registration, via the website itself, before registering, or enter with a previously created registration.
