A large fire destroyed a supermarket in the municipality of Manacapuru, in the interior of Amazonas. The accident was recorded in the early hours of this Sunday (5). There were no victims.
According to the Amazonas Military Fire Department (CBMAM), teams from the capital were called at around 2 am to support firefighters from Manacapuru, who were already fighting the flames.
“It was a large supermarket and we worked on the front lines to contain the flames, but also to prevent the spread to other nearby establishments,” said Colonel Reinaldo Menezes, deputy general commander of CBMAM.
The flames were fully controlled at around 5:50 am. Soon after, firefighters carried out the immediate aftermath and inspected the affected area.
Throughout this Sunday morning (5), part of the fire teams remain on site.
There is still no information about what started the fire.
